The Jasmine Riviera (or Jasmine Coast), a coastal stretch in the Locride area, is the southernmost Riviera in Calabria. Its name, poetic and evocative, refers to the ancient jasmine cultivations that abounded in the area since the 1950s. An elegant flower with a delicate yet hardy appearance and an intense perfume, it was picked by 'jasmine growers' (which at the time was a real trade carried out by local women) and sold throughout Europe, especially in France, to make perfumes.
Today, the Costa dei Gelsomini is a magical place among beautiful landscapes that smell of Mediterranean scrub and a sea that still enchants with its crystal-clear seabed.
